GOUMIER FARM

and German Bunker

- southeast of Pilkem -

Located on the Pilckem Ridge
it was taken by the 38th Welsh Division on the 31st July 1917,
the first day of the Battle of 3rd Ypres.

Changing hands many times during the battle.

The bunker was originally built inside an existing structure
and when this was destroyed the roof was covered with earth
to disguise observation from the air.
