On the Menin Road this was an infamous spot for the British troops
as the Germans had it accurately registered for their artillery.
This is a photo taken on an early visit
and shows the old layout complete with Demarcation Stone on the island.
These monuments were placed on over 960 kilometers of the Western Front
by the France and Begium Touring Clubs
in order to indicate the limit of the German Army advance in WW1
